TenCate Advanced Composites North America has completed the relocation of its former Benicia California prepreg facility to a 65,000 square foot facility.
The new aerospace certified facility in Fairfield, California is only ten miles from the former site, which allows TenCate to maintain the existing work force.
The facility consolidates three separate sites in Benicia to one common facility allowing greater efficiency and flow in manufacturing. Paul Draghi, Vice President of Manufacturing states:
The Fairfield facility has been extensively upgraded with additional power, freezer storage for climate control of our composite laminates, Quality Control labs, and office space.
The new facility complements TenCate’s existing Morgan Hill facility providing two sites for redundancy and additional capacity. As part of this new investment, CCS Composites – which is a subsidiary of TenCate has increased pressing capacity by 50%. Equipment additions include five-axis routing capability and 1,000 ton pressing capacity for large parts.

Biography
TenCate Advanced Composites produces advanced fiber reinforced thermoplastic and thermoset composite materials that are used for many structural and semi-structural aircraft parts as well as aircraft interior applications. Thermoplastics are branded under the name ‘TenCate Cetex®’, the high strength/ low weight material based on PPS and PEI thermoplastic resin types is qualified at the major aircraft manufacturers and its subcontractors. TenCate Cetex is lighter than traditional metals but stronger due to glass, carbon and aramid reinforcement within the advanced thermoplastic matrix types. Flat laminates can be easily and quickly thermoformed into parts against low processing cost. A further benefit lies in outstanding FST values, its good resistance to aggressive fluids such as Skydrol® and broad operating temperature range. With the aid of special welding techniques, TenCate Cetex parts can be bonded without the costly and time consuming riveting process.
Thermoset products are available in uni-tape and fabric prepregs for aircraft, spacecraft, radome, commercial, anti-ballistic and recreational applications.
The TenCate Advanced Composites Group, part of the multinational Royal Ten Cate, is a global supplier of advanced composite materials for the aerospace industry, anti-ballistics and a wide range of industrial applications. The company combines its fibre expertise with smart chemical- and engineering technologies. This synergy gives a true meaning to Ten Cate’s slogan “Materials that make a Difference”. In close cooperation with TenCate Advanced Composites USA, TenCate Advanced Armor and TenCate Roshield, the group projects a strong international image as manufacturer of innovative solutions for specific market needs.
