Peugeot Design Labs Create Seat from Volcanic Rock & Carbon Fibre

About to be unveiled at this years Milan design week the Peugeot design lab have announced the Onyx Sofa, a 3 metre long seat made from a combination of volcanic lava stone and carbon fibre.

Due to its resistance to freezing and other chemical products, volcanic lava stone was sourced from 11,000 year old Volcanoes of Auvergne in France. The stone was hand carved before being bonded to a hybrid mix of lacquered black carbon fibre. check out the video for more information on the production process.

The sofa took a total of 70 days work to create and if you did want one in your front room it would set you back a cool 135,000 € although prices vary depending on materials chosen by the client.
