E.ON orders 25 wind turbines from Vestas

Vestas has received an order from E.ON Climate and Renewables UK for delivery of 25 units of the V80-2.0 MW wind turbine.

Following the announcement of the planned manufacturing site in Kent Vestas has received an order from E.On for delivery of 25 wind turbines. The order has a total capacity of 50 MW and the turbines will be installed at the Camster wind farm in Scotland near Wick, Caithness and are expected to provide electricity equivalent to about 37,000 homes* and save more than 75,000 tons of CO2 per year.

We are very pleased with our continuously developing cooperation with E.ON Climate and Renewables UK. They are clearly a leading force in developing one of the largest wind power markets in the world as well as one of the most experienced companies in the field,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe. “The V80-2.0 MW is designed to optimise high-wind sites, which makes it well positioned for the Camster wind farm

Klaus Steen Mortensen concludes. Dean Guy, construction project manager for E.ON’s renewable business said:

We see onshore wind as an important part of the future energy mix here in the UK, and Camster wind farm is an important part of that. We’re looking forward to working with Vestas at this exciting new development.

The commissioning of the wind turbines is expected to start in October 2012.
